Shawn Mock, FDN-P, LMT

Shawn Mock, FDN-P, LMT

I started my career in the health care field in1996 in Chicago as a doctor of chiropractic. Working in a full rehabilitation center I was able to gain the perspective of many different types of health care practitioners and the unique methods they used to uncover the root causes of unwanted conditions in the body.

In 2004 I moved to San Diego to work for a gym/clinic as a post-rehab personal trainer. At this facility, I had the privilege of working with a few amputee athletes. In 2008 I became a certified prosthetist which gave me the ability to fabricate prosthetic devices and work exclusively with rehabilitating amputees.

After working with this small patient population for a number of years I decided to expand the patient population to incorporate any individual with a chronic illness or health concern. I loved the practice of massage so much and its benefits, I went to school for it and I received my massage therapy license several years ago. This has allowed me to incorporate all of my education and training to best benefit what each patients needs are. I look forward to working with our patients at A Place Of Health.

My passion for massage is centered around helping others improve their wellbeing. In my role as a Massage Therapist, I focus on understanding the clients current situation and overall goals. Then utilize the information in a session that helps clients achieve their goals as well as improve their overall wellbeing.

During each session I work to release muscle tension as well as reducing stress. Each session is unique, and integrates different styles and techniques of massage including: Swedish, Trigger Point, & Deep Tissue.

After high school I received my Bachelor's degree from West Texas A&M University (Canyon, TX) in 2002. Later that year I was accepted to graduate school at Florida State University. After graduating from FSU in 2005, I moved to South Florida began working in the Marketing & Advertising industry for local not-for-profits groups, as well as, a Fortune-500 company. After years in the industry it was time for professional change. I knew I loved massage therapy and knew how profound it could be as a healing tool . I just felt that calling to be in a healing, hands on environment. I couldn't be more happy with my career.
